Section 39-2606 – Idaho State Legislature
According to the Idaho Drought Monitor, the southern half of Teton County is in moderate drought while the northern half is in severe drought. The forecast remains the same for the foreseeable future with little to no change. In addition, we have experienced
multiple Red Flag Warnings in recent weeks. The current fire danger rating for the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and Teton County, ID has elevated to the Very High category.
SE Idaho has experienced several wildfires that have quickly overwhelmed firefighters. Firefighting resources in the region are beginning to be stretched thin and fire managers are concerned as we have a long Summer still ahead.
Teton County Fire Rescue is asking all residents and visitors to be diligent while working or recreating outdoors. One small mistake could be catastrophic in these conditions. In addition, a person could be financially responsible for damages incurred because of one’s actions. Citizens are encouraged to report any illegal or unauthorized burning.
